Thomas K. Barlis, DPM
Dr. Barlis brings over 30 years of expertise and experience to Footcare Now.
His educational journey began at New York University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. He then pursued his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating in 1985.
Dr. Barlis further honed his skills during a two-year surgical residency at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and affiliated institutions, completing his training in 1987.
He holds licenses in podiatry for both New York and New Jersey and is actively engaged in the podiatric community, maintaining memberships in esteemed organizations such as the American Podiatry Association, the New York Podiatry Society, and the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. His commitment to the field is exemplified by his leadership roles within the New York Division.
With a wealth of experience and dedication to excellence, Dr. Barlis continues to serve the medical needs of his patients with a focus on podiatric medicine, surgery, and sports medicine.
Femi Francis, DPM
Dr. Femi Francis is a distinguished podiatrist with over 22 years of experience, boasting a rich educational background and a broad spectrum of clinical expertise. She earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 2001, following her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Spelman College in 1990. Her postgraduate journey includes a Rotating Podiatry Residency at Coney Island Hospital and a Primary Podiatry Medicine Residency, where she excelled as Chief Resident. Her training was further enhanced by a Pediatric Medicine Surgical Residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, under the mentorship of esteemed podiatrists.
Prior to her focus on podiatry, Dr. Francis contributed significantly to the education field as a classroom teacher with the New York City Board of Education and served at the United Cerebral Palsy Lawrence Avenue Adult Residence Facility. Her medical career includes significant roles such as Associate Attending at Grand Concourse Footcare and the Downstate Foot and Ankle Podiatry Group P.C in Brooklyn.
Dr. Francis's career is highlighted by her unwavering dedication to patient care and her adeptness in addressing a wide array of podiatric conditions. Her extensive training and lengthy experience in both the medical and surgical realms of podiatry have established her as a prominent figure in her field, committed to enhancing the well-being of her patients.
Kevin L. Ray, DPM, JD
Dr. Kevin L. Ray, received his undergraduate degree in Biology from South Carolina State University, and his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the New York College Of Podiatric Medicine in New York City, NY in 2002.
He completed residencies at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center and Drexel University College of Medicine/Hahnemann University Hospital in foot and ankle surgery.
Dr. Ray is licensed in New York, and is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association. He has affiliations with Palmetto Health Baptist in NY and Mount Sinai Hospital in Queens.
As a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Dr. Ray has a focus on both reconstructive foot surgery and ankle surgery, and also specializes in heel pain, diabetic wound care, and sports medicine.
Dr. Ray has been in practice since 2006. He is proud to provide excellent podiatric care for the diverse community of Jackson Heights, NY.
Toru Shimoji, DPM
Dr. Toru Shimoji, DPM graduated from Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, IL with a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine in 2011.
He is affiliated with several hospitals in New York including Westchester Medical Center, Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and Mount Sinai Beth Israel Brooklyn Medical Center.
Dr. Shimoji has a special interest in sprains, sports medicine, wound and ankle care, and excels in podiatric urgent care.
With his experience, areas of expertise, and ability to speak multiple languages including Spanish, Dr. Shimoji is a huge asset to Footcare Now and the culturally-rich community it serves.
